Club Status Deactivation

We have noticed activity online regarding our former club dance teacher and advisor.
We are officially stating that because she demanded that campus admin disassociate her from our club, our club status was deactivated. Therefore, the CSUF Student Organization called “The CSUF Belly Dance Club” no longer exists.

wednesday meetings on hold

Meetings are currently on hold due to lack of participation And the fact that our club status may disappear if we can not find a new adviser. the adviser that has been working with us is now demanding that the school cut off all of our club connection to her. Without an “adviser” on paper, we can not register as a campus affiliated student organization. We operated without an “active” adviser last year (last year, all the adviser did was sign some paperwork) and planned to do that this semester when the things didn’t pan out, thus we stopped bothering her. However, this semester’s adviser is demanding that we completely cut off all connections and references to her.

If anyone still wishes to be involved in club performances or meetings email us. We still plan to perform in November and December, however, none of the club officers can make the wednesday night time. the officers do meet for choreography practice at other times but only those who can dance at the level required for the choreography are invited to participate.

Every Wednesday 7-9pm in KHS 202

The Club Officers will lead a beginner dance session that may go into more advanced movements depending on the skill level of the students who show up. We have possible performances in November and December. Performing is optional, let us know if you are interested!

Also, under situational circumstances, the CSUF Bellydance club will no longer have the privilege of working with the Sylvia. We thank her for being part of the club.

Wednesday Dance Classes

A good group came last week and they all had fun with Sylvia!
Everyone else who’s curious, come check out the class and Dance with us!

Saturdays and others have been put on hold until we have interest because nobody came to the last Saturday class.

Club Dance Classes Finally Starting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!!!!! We have dance room reservations confirmed!!!!!!!

• Every Wednesdays 7-9pm Foundational Belly Dance Class with Sylvia in Kinesthesiology 202 (the old titan gym, second floor)
• Saturday 10/11 11am-1pm Class with Pranali in TSU Heterbringk AB
• Last General Meeting for October: Tuesday 10/7 8-9pm : we will watch the DVD : Nourhan Sharif Intro to Belly Dance Technique
• More Saturday classes are planned, we will see who shows up on 10/11 first
• Dance troupe plans are waiting, the Troupe Leader needs to clear her schedule, and get back to us in 2 weeks

In the Wednesday class, Sylvia will teach foundational belly dance moves that will allow you to branch off into more specific styles such as Egyptian Raqs Shaqr, Turkish Oriental, American Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion and so on. In the Saturday classes the teachers will see what level of students show up and alter the classes according to what the students need.

There is also a new Videos page for everyone to see what the club has done in the past 🙂

Plans for the future include a Fundraisers!, Dance Swap Meet, Educational/Historical Skit about Belly Dance in the USA, End of Year Potluck party with prizes and fun!

Update on Meetings!

Upcoming Meetings

• Tuesdays : 8-9pm TSU Gilman AB (update: no more Tuesday meetings)
• Saturdays : 11am-1pm TSU Heterbrink AB a couple times a month
  10/11 Class with Pranali : introduction to her teaching style
  10/25 Class with Pranali : continuation of her teaching
• Dance Troupe : auditions and meetings TBD

We will keep updating with any changes and or additions to our schedule, we eagerly wait for our classroom reservation paperwork to be finished processing so that we can start classes in rooms with mirrors.

Today’s First Meeting we very well, we were able to meet the new members and chat with everyone about what drew us to belly dance, we also introduced the club to everybody. Hope to see you all at the next meetings! Also, a slight change in time, the meetings will start at 8 instead of 8:30, it get too late and we all want to get back home so we can finish hw and get some sleep before heading to class on Wednesday!

waiting for paperwork + Discoverfest!

Hello everyone! Our club is waiting for room reservation paperwork to be processed and there is a massive hold due to internal campus administrative issues … so right now are looking into reservations for different locations While waiting for the paperwork processing to finish.

Also! We will be at Discover Fest this Wednesday between 11-1pm! Hope to see you there!

We will be at Table 58, next to the performing arts building. Lead Soloist Bianca will be performing!
